Flir i7 Thermal Imaging Camera New Review
The Flir i7 Thermal Imaging Camera has been discontinued.
I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Okay, it’s not really a secret but many people may not be aware that the FLIR i7 is still being produced and is available to purchase. I know what you may be thinking – ‘Why would they still make and why would I buy an i7 with the E-series with MSX on the market?’ I can answer this question for you in one word (well, it’s an acronym) – RESNET. What is this you ask? RESNET (Residential Energy Services Network) is a governing body that provides standards for energy efficiency and more importantly inspection standards for residential thermographers. Why do you need to care about this? Because customers will be interested in meeting these standards in order to qualify for tax credits, to meet EPA requirements for ENERGY STAR labeled homes, and US Department of Energy requirements for Building America programs.
That all sounds a little complicated, jargon and more jargon. The simple part: the FLIR i7 is the least expensive camera on the market that meets RESNET the minimum standard thermal resolution of 120 x 120 by offering a 140 x 140 pixel detector. This translates to being able to offer more services to your customers at a lower cost to you. Along with meeting this resolution requirement, the FLIR i7 features 100mK thermal sensitivity, a temperature range that goes up to 482°, and report generation capability. Being able to generate official reports that meet RESNET standards is a fast and simple way to make sure all the requirements for residential thermal inspections are met. With the FLIR i7 you can check for important residential issues like faulty insulation, water damage, malfunctioning electrical components, heat loss through improperly sealed doors and windows, etc.
So again, long story short, pick this camera up if you need to or want to meet RESNET standards at a price point that won’t go over your budget. For more info on the FLIR i7, follow this link.
