Hello again. Today we are going to have a look at a precision instrument that is relatively simple to understand and use but provides some serious quality – the TSI 5815 DP-Calc Micromanometer. This instrument is specifically designed with needs of the HVAC technician in mind providing pressure measurement and the capability to take volume readings as well.

TSI is known for producing top-shelf instruments in a variety of fields. Essentially the TSI 5815 DP-Calc is a lab quality instrument that is designed for field use.

Differential pressure and static pressure can both be measured with a range of -15 to +15 in H2O (-3735 to +3735 Pa) with a super high accuracy of ±1% of reading ±0.005 in H2O (±0.01 mm Hg, ±1 Pa) and  excellent resolution of 0.001 in H2O (0.1 Pa, 0.01 mm Hg).

The TSI 5815 DP-Calc micromanometer can also be configured using various Pitot tubes to measure velocity with a very wide range of 250 to 15,500 ft/min (1.27 to 78.7 m/s) with great ±1.5% accuracy and resolution of 1 ft/min (0.1 m/s).

Top this off with an intuitive and easy-to-use interface and the NIST calibration that comes standard with TSI instruments, and you actually end up with quite a bargain on this advanced top-of-the-line manometer.

Any thoughts on the benefits of a precision instrument like this unit versus a more standard manometer and the respective pros and cons in HVAC work?

Until next time.
