Armada Pro300 Wire and Valve Locator New Review
Updated May 2024.
Hello everyone. Toady’s post is going to spotlight the Armada Pro300 Wire and Valve Locator. I have explained some basic wire locating principles in previous posts but I will briefly address them again here and then discuss the features that make the Armada Pro300 unique.
Like other Armada brand locators, the Pro300 comes in a specially designed hardshell case that also contains the transmitter. To get started locating, you need to connect your color coded clips to the transmitter that is built into the Armada Pro300 ’s case. The red line then clips to the wire you are looking to trace out from the control box and the black wire will clip to the ground stake.
As always, make sure you are grounding the system to the literal ground. If you ground the locator to something other than the dirt you run the risk of electrical shocks, fires and the like. After this setup is complete you are ready to get locating.
The Armada Pro300 Wire and Valve Locator is unique in that the receiver is a hanging unit that the user swings back and forth along the supposed wire path. As with any specialized field there is a certain art to this process that can be learned only through experience, but the Pro300 locator is relatively easy to use and comprehend. Starting at the box you hang the receiver down to the ground and you will hear a tone.
The Armada Pro300 operates using a null technology, meaning that when the receiver is directly over the wire, the constant tone disappears. So if you hear nothing coming from the receiver it means that you are directly over the line. So you essentially swing side to side until the signal disappears and then do your best to keep the signal quiet as you follow the path of the line. It’s as simple as that.
