Today I am reviewing the TPI 721 Combustible Gas Detector. The TPI 721 is designed to detect gases such as Acetone, Acetylene, Alcohol, Ammonia, Benzene, Butane, Ethanol, Ethylene Oxide, Gasoline, Hexane, Hydrogen, Methane, Naphtha, Natural Gas, Paint Thinners, Propane, and Solvents with 10-ppm methane sensitivity. The TPI 721 Combustible Gas Detector is great for checking gas pipelines, valves, regulators, and meters on gas equipment, propane filing stations, liquid or gas fired heating systems, exhaust or fuel leaks, arson residue, fuel in marine bilges, and more.
The TPI 721 Combustible Gas Detector is very easy to use with many helpful features. For instance, the TPI Combustible Gas Detector uses an intuitive thumbwheel to adjust tic rate/sensitivity. This can be exceptionally useful in pinpointing the source of the leak. The TPI Combustible Gas Detector also displays real ppm, stepped ppm, and %LEL (Lower Explosive Limit). The display on the unit features two lines with a bar graph. The display is also illuminated, making it versatile in dark or lit areas. The user can set adjustable visual and audible alarms on the unit for specific ppm limits. This feature also aids in pinpointing leaks. The TPI Combustible Gas Detector runs off two C cell alkaline batteries, which will last approximately 20 hours of runtime. Additionally, if you are in a noisy environment of some sort, there is a built-in earphone jack on the unit so you may still hear the precise ticks with less impairment. The TPI 721 Combustible Gas Detector’s flexible probe is 16” long, making it able to get into very tight nooks and crannies.
