Overview of the Klein 55485 Tool Master Backpack

Klein Tools’ Tradesman Pro Tool Master Backpack sits at the apex of Klein’s tool backpack product line. The Tool Master backpack boasts many of the same features common across the Pro Tool series:

1680d ballistic weave material
Double stitching
A molded front pocket for protecting fragile objects like cell phones and glasses
A fully molded bottom for protecting tools against dirt, debris, and fluids
Lockable zipper pulls

But there is one feature unique to the Tool Master: the interior center panel is a completely removable tool caddy. This caddy has 11 of the tool bag’s 48 pockets, along with a D-ring and its own handles, and is great for transporting a subset of a technician’s tools for smaller, specialized jobs while keeping all the rest back in the truck.

With 48 total pockets (with 36 on the inside), the Pro Tool backpack supplies an enormous amount of organized storage space, enabling tradesmen to quickly find the tool they need right when they need it and perform instant visual inventory of their tools at the end of every job.

On the outside of the bag is a pocket which is both big and adjustable, perfect for large tools like drills which won’t fit in smaller pockets designed for tools like pliers and screwdrivers.

In addition to the features listed at the start of this review, the bag’s main external handle is reinforced with aircraft cable. This backpack also has a metal hook for conveniently hanging the bag while at the same time reliably bearing the weight of a full load of tools.

Carrying Tools in Comfort
Although the Tool Master backpack weighs in at 13lbs without a single tool in it, its ergonomic features will make lugging around lots of heavy gear feel lighter than if that same gear were in a duffel or hand-carried tool bag. The wide, padded shoulder straps combine with chest and waist straps to evenly spread its weight comfortably across the body, instead of concentrating it like other bags do on shoulders.
