Flir TG165 IR Imaging Thermometer Review
Hey everyone. Today we’re going to take a look at really cool new product from FLIR, the clear leader in the thermal imaging market. FLIR keeps topping the game with exciting new technologies and their extensive research and development focus, which gives rise to better and more affordable tools, like the Flir TG165 IR Imaging Thermometer.
The Flir TG165 infrared thermometer combines the ease and familiarity of an infrared spot gun with true thermal imaging technology. The onscreen display uses the new FLIR exclusive Lepton detector that gives real thermal images at 80x60 resolution, 9Hz refresh rate, and 150mK thermal sensitivity. These images can be saved for later analysis. Now these images are not fully radiometric, meaning that you will only get a numerical value for the spot being measured by the IR thermometer portion of this unit. But you will have the most accurate visual representation of hotspots and overall temperature in the field of view that is possible in this price bracket.
Coupled with this new technology is solid IR thermometer construction, with a 24:1 distance to spot ratio, dual laser targeting, and a pretty wide effective temperature range. The combination of these two highly reliable technologies makes preventative maintenance and troubleshooting tasks faster and much more accurate than they have ever been.
To add to the ease, the Flir TG165 is small enough to fit on a tool belt, lightweight, and ruggedly designed to withstand a 2m drop. Finally, you can tack on the benefit of FLIR’s excellent 2-10 warranty, which covers the whole unit for 2 years and the thermal detector for 10, and you have a clear frontrunner in this product category.
What do you all think of this new technology and how it will be useful in various testing fields?
Until next week.
