Today I am reviewing the MR176 Moisture Meter Plus Infrared Camera with IGM Technology from Flir. The Flir MR176 combines thermal imaging, moisture detection, and a field replaceable temperature and relative humidity sensor into one convenient device. The Flir MR176 is great for HVAC, building diagnostics, restoration contractors, home weatherization, locating mold and rot, locating missing insulation, finding water damage, detecting air leaks, finding electrical problems, finding destructive pests, inspecting ceramic, laminates, resilient flooring, composition shingles, residential roofing, drywall, wood, porcelain tiles, brick, resilient flooring, asphalt composition shingles, plaster, and other building materials.

The Flir MR176 measures moisture content non-intrusively and intrusively, takes high quality thermal images, measures relative humidity, dew point, vapor pressure, mixing ratio and generates reports with the FLIR tools software. The Flir MR176 uses infrared guided measurement (IGM) technology to help guide the user straight to any problem areas. The Flir MR176 features 9 Hz image frame rate, 4800 pixel (80 x 60) thermal image resolution, 9 unique material groups for the moisture pin probe, 18 hours battery run-time, 320 x 240 pixel 2.3” display, stores up to 9999 images, runs off a 3000 mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery, automatic image calibration, and a single laser pointer to help guide the user’s aim.

The Flir MR176 operates simply with a snapshot button to take pictures, laser toggle button, and center directional pad. Choose to integrate moisture, relative humidity, dew point, vapor pressure, temperature, and mixing ratio into your thermal images. The Flir MR176 is a unique device that easily finds and locates any moisture or temperature related issue.
