Hey everybody, today we're going to have a look at a really exciting new product from FLIR - the Flir TG130 Spot Thermal Camera. Up until very recently thermal imaging was quite the expensive field to break into but, thanks to innovative new products from FLIR, it is more affordable than ever to outfit your whole team with thermal devices and still stay under-budget.

The Flir TG130 is an excellent new device that is priced at just $249 making it a economic addition to any toolkit. The TG130 provides real-time thermal imaging onscreen with a fast 9hz refresh rate and an integrated spot measurement that numerically displays the temperature of a targeted object in the screen corner. Now, the TG130 is designed for discovery and diagnostic purposes, so it does not save images but the trigger will freeze an image onscreen so that you can view it away from the target. Essentially a technician or other user makes use of the TG130 by visually scanning the environment for temperature anomalies that are easy to spot due to the color differences on the display screen, as well as specific point measurement like a standard IR thermometer or “spot-gun”. You can think of the TG130 as a kind of 2-in-1 instrument. It works like a standard “spot-gun” but also allows you to view much larger areas visually, saving tons of time in finding high temps that would be almost impossible to see with a normal IR thermometer. This has a wide range of applications, like HVAC work, electrical circuit breakers, heat loss in homes, food storage, and the list goes on and on. The TG130 has a convenient portable handheld design, runs for 4 continuous hours on 3 AAA batteries, features simple focus-free operation that requires no training, and an excellent temperature range of –10 to +150°C (+14 to +302°F).

Getting involved in thermal imaging has never been more cost-effective and devices like the FLIR TG130 can save on hours of discovery work and is just an all-around cool new device.

Does anyone have any thoughts on other applications that the TG130 can be used for?
