Today I will be reviewing the Klein Tools VDV501-824 VDV Scout Pro 2 Network Cable Tester Remote Kit. This versatile handheld meter will handle most of the common testing you will encounter on a daily basis. These tests include testing with both 6 wire (RJ11/12) and 8 wire (RJ45) cables as well as coaxial cables. There is wire mapping (ID remotes sold separately) as well as diagnosis for opens, shorts, miswires, and split pairs. These tests should cover 80% of the initial diagnostics you will need.
