Amprobe AT-2005-A is no longer manufactured.

The Amprobe AT-6030 locates energized and de-energized wires, breakers, and fuses. The AT-6030 comes equipped with a transmitter and receiver to easily detect signals in wires or cables behind walls, ceilings, and floors, along with the CT-400 Signal Clamp.

Hello all. Today we will take a look at the Amprobe AT-2005-A wire tracer for finding electrical cabling hidden behind walls. Why do we want to do this? Same reason we do most things in a business, to save time and money. Being able to pinpoint where wires are running behind a wall saves the hassle and cost of having to cut out the wall to make repairs and anyone in contract labor knows this is enough for these types of products to sell themselves.

An added bonus of the Amprobe AT-2005A is that tests can be run on energized cables in addition to un-energized wires, so the inconvenience of deactivating an electrical system before testing is a non-issue.

The Amprobe AT-2005A also can be used as a basic circuit breaker tracer. Just connect to the outlet you want to follow and use the receiver to find the switch on the breaker panel. This same operation can be used to find the wire in the wall as well. Essentially you are place a signal on the wire you are tracing with the transmitter module and subsequently tracking it with the receiver, up to a depth of 13 feet (4 meters).

This tracer will even detect wires housed in conduit, so it is very versatile and you won’t need to worry whether the wires you need to find will be detected or not. The Amprobe AT-2005A can also be used to find broken wires, short and ground faults, making the pinpointing of your desired repair area even more precise. Finally, this tester includes a battery booster to make the signal even stronger and ensure that you get the best quality signal for accurate testing.

Until next week.
