Greetings all. Today we’re going to have a look at a handy meter that can be added to a full rig of HVAC instruments for increased versatility and accuracy. Said meter is the Fieldpiece SDP2 Dual In-Duct Psychrometer and it is a fairly unique and very interesting unit.

First off, the Fieldpiece SDP2 can transmit all of its measurements wirelessly and this is a big draws for this meter and other Fieldpiece instruments. But more on that in a bit.

This meter monitors Supply Wet Bulb, Supply Temp, Return Wet Bulb, Return Temp, and enthalpy (BTUh) change across evaporator – all in real-time. In plain English, this means that all the parameters that are necessary to monitor in order to ensure the proper efficient performance of an air conditioning unit can be taken and analyzed as the AC unit is running.

This is a big draw for HVAC techs and as I mentioned above, these results can be streamed to an Fieldpiece SMAN460 or and HG3 wirelessly. This function allows you to tune a unit by monitoring at the supply and return with the SDP2 psychrometer, as well as at the unit itself with the Digital Manifold.

With all these bases covered you have a more complete control over the charging and tuning process when working on an AC unit. Top all this off with some nice cosmetic features like a backlit dual readout LCD, rugged case design, and convenient sizing and you have yourself a powerhouse meter at a great price.

Anyone have thoughts about these Wireless HVAC systems that Fieldpiece now offers?

Until next time.
