Tramex MEPis no longer manufactured

Hello all, we’re going to have a look at a very interesting little meter - the Tramex MEP Moisture Encounter Plus. The Tramex MEP uses a pretty interesting process to take non-destructive moisture readings in surfaces like Wood, drywall, tile, roofing, masonry, brick, and plaster - to name a few.

Typically you would need to use a drill to make room for moisture probes or use a moisture meter that featured pins in order to take accurate moisture readings. These methods inevitably damage the surface that you are working with and just generally make your job a pain in the neck.

The Tramex MEP non-invasive moisture meter instead uses a low level electrical signal to take moisture readings that leaves all your working surfaces intact. It does this by have both transmitting and receiving electrodes that send out a low frequency electrical field that detects changes in impedance causes by moisture interference and then registers that value as a moisture percentage on the dial. Pretty neat. This contact method also provides for maximum sensitivity.

The signal can penetrate relatively deeply – up to 1.25” in wood and drywall – and has a convenient hold function to freeze your readings at the ideal measurement point. The Tramex MEP also features an alarm that indicates when moisture levels exceed a reasonable amount and features 3 ranges of measurements for dealing with different materials.
