Klein Tools continues its march in to the Test and Measurement segment with the new Commander Voice/Data/Video Cable Testers. This new meter is one the most technical meter Klein has offered yet. The new VDV501-828 and VDV501-829 Commander are full featured Cable testers that can locate, test and measure data, telephone, and coaxial cabling. The ability to handle wire mapping and do diagnosis to find opens, shorts, miswires and split pairs gives this tester everyday use. The VDV501-828 is the base kit option from Klein Tools and it includes the Commander Tester, 1 Test-n-Map ID, 5 each RJ45 ID and Coax ID and various test cables. If you upgrade to the VDV501-829 you will get everything the same except it bumps up to 20 each of the ID’s and includes the PROBEplus Tone Tracing Probe. As you can tell these kits are stocked and full of features. The built in TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) for accurate length measurement and PoE (Power over Ethernet) detection testing are great bonuses to have in the toolbox. Klein Tools decided to not stop there and has put Port Blinking, 256 Test Storage, and a beautiful color LCD Display. If you find yourself looking to upgrade the cable tester you currently have or are looking to just get your hands on the newest tech, the Klein Tools Commander VDV Cable Tester is where you want to direct your attention.

Which feature of this new tester do you find to be the most exciting?

Cheers and Happy Testing,

-Sam
