The Fluke Ti450 Infrared Camera has been discontinued. Please browse the FLIR Infrared Cameras Catalog.

Today we will be reviewing a new entry from Fluke in their thermal imaging line of products, the Fluke Ti450. The Fluke Ti450 is a culmination of the best new technology coupled with great pricing. Looking at the features it is clear that this midlevel thermal imager is designed with the preventive maintenance technician in mind.

First up, let’s cover some basic specifications for the Fluke Ti450. The detector resolution of 320 x 240 (76,800 pixels) and the thermal sensitivity of 0.05 ℃ are great parameters for inspecting equipment. The resolution in particular gives you enough data points to get an excellent fine mesh temperature matrix that can be compared to previous inspections. Having a finer mesh allows the inspecting technician to check for any possible minute temperature changes over time that could be an indication of future failure.

Next, let’s talk about the features that are present in the Fluke Ti450 that set you up to succeed in performing not only the MRO inspection but also putting together a report for your employer or client. MultiSharp™ Focus is a new feature that creates a clear image that is focused throughout the field of view. This is accomplished by the camera taking multiple photographs focused throughout the field of view when the trigger is pulled. Utilizing the same method, SuperResolution is a feature that doubles the resolution of 640 x 480 (307,200 pixels). To be clear, SuperResolution is only available if you are not using a tripod. This is because SuperResolution relies on the natural movement of the hand. For a more detailed explanation on how SuperResolution works, please read this previous post on the topic. Both of these features are captured on the camera but can only be viewed by using the reporting software. These two features give your report a professional look that clearly show the inspections that were completed and are detailed enough to pinpoint any potential problem areas.

The final feature that I want to cover is its compatibility with Fluke Connet via its wireless connectivity. Fluke Connect is the online software that connects with all of Fluke’s wireless test tools to create and analyze reports. The app is available on Google play and the Apple App Store so you can quickly pull up reports in the field to make edits, adjustments or email the report to other technicians who may also be in the field. Utilizing newer technology to enhance work flow is a welcome addition to the MRO inspection field that will greatly increase productivity and general satisfaction of clients.

The Fluke Ti450 Infrared Camera is an excellent entry into the thermal imaging camera segment making it harder for companies to resist purchasing their first infrared camera altogether or upgrading their current fleet of cameras they may already be using.
