Providing clients with proof that your work is installed properly is becoming more and more commonplace. Companies spend a lot of money to have networks installed in their offices and they want some guarantee that things are what you say they are. The Byte Brothers Real World Certifier does exactly that. In some respects, the RWC1000K is similar to the LVPRO3 that I reviewed last week. What I mean by this is that it will identify split pairs, distances to open/shorts and give you an accurate cable length. What the RWC1000K brings to the table is its capability of speed testing that verifies what speeds each pair is capable of producing. This process is done by pulsing a digital signal down the cables in real time to give you actual data. When all the tests are run you are given the following results.

  • Near / Far End Crosstalk
  • Predicted Cable Speed
  • Propagation Delay
  • Skew

This data can be reviewed on the tester if the client would like to see this information or it can easily be imported into Excel and run through the Byte Brothers Reporting Software (provided) where it magically creates an instant report with all the information to ease the customer’s mind that your work is high quality. Another great feature of this tester is it stores 250 tests, but if the battery happens to die while out in the field, it will not erase those tests. While not a mind blowing feature by itself, it’s that attention to detail that Byte Brothers has shown a proclivity for with their products. I hope you found this entry useful and educational.
