Hello again to everyone. Today we’re going to take a look at an innovative, top-of-the-line wire tracer that was just recently released by Amprobe – the Amprobe AT-7030 Advanced Wire Tracer Kit. This unit packs a real punch with tons of features both standard and unique to make a one-of-a-kind device.

First off, the Amprobe AT-7030 Circuit Tracer performs similarly to other wire tracers, in that it uses a signal generator to place a signal on the wires you are looking to trace and then this signal is picked up by the receiver in varying degrees respective of your closeness to the wire. This can be used to find breakers, wire path or various faults in the line.

The whole process can be easily conceived of as a glorified tone and probe system, though it is actually more complex. However, the Amprobe AT-7030 tracer unit sets itself apart through 3 primary and significant factors. One is the patented Smart Sensor which measures small changes in the detected signal multiple times per second for unparalleled accuracy.

The next distinguishing feature of this unit is the Transmitter, which features 3 different signal options to meet a variety of needs. The first of these is High Power for standard circuits, Low Power for precision tracing, and the Signal Clamp for a powerful boosted signal.

The third feature is the color TFT monitor which gives directional indication and other signal data that makes wire location the easiest it’s ever been. The Amprobe AT-7030 features everything listed above plus a battery booster and a hangar. This is a powerful wire tracer that is intuitive and a great tool for any professional electrical worker or contractor.

Anyone have thoughts on the trend toward graphical representation in new tracing technologies?

See you next time.
