Locating wires, both energized and de-energized, underground is an important job to get right. Not only is safety a priority, but the saving of time and money is also vastly important. The Amprobe AT-3500 is an advanced underground locator that uses three different testing modes to give this unit an excellent accuracy range. The three options are Passive Power (in the 50/60 Hz Ranges), Passive Radio (Radio Frequencies), as well as the T-3500 Transmitter that allows for direct connect to the cable. There is also an optional Inductance Clamp if you do not have the ability to direct connect to the line you are locating. The Amprobe AT-3500 also has a digital display on the blade receiver that gives all the information you need. If you are using this locator to trace a wire that you have access to, simply use the transmitter and the direct connect method to clip onto the line and use the receiver to trace the signal and get your markings. If you do not have access to the wire and are doing a “blind sweep” of an area to look for potential risk areas you would use the Passive modes (Power / Radio) on the Receiver. Once in this mode you can adjust the sensitivity and perform the recommended grid locating method to find any signals. All in all this is a great unit that is competitively priced.

Cheers and Happy Testing,
